CARE is a programme that employs tools from positive psychology.

It’s the study of the conditions and processes that contribute to the development and optimal functioning of individuals, groups, and institutions.

It was created by Christophe André (psychiatrist, pioneer of meditation for therapeutic use), Rebecca Shankland (researcher in psychology – Director of the Director of the Positive Psychology University Diploma course - University of Grenoble), and Ilios Kotsou (researcher in the psychology of emotions - University of Louvain).

Programme:

  • The course consists of 8 two-hour sessions:
    • Monday, 2 November 2020, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
    • Monday, 9 November 2020, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
    • Monday, 16 November 2020, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
    • Monday, 23 November 2020, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
    • Monday, 30 November 2020, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
    • Monday, 7 December 2020, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
    • Monday, 14 December 2020, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
    • Monday, 21 December 2020, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
  • The CARE programme is made up of about twenty exercises – similar to a toolbox – that can be used daily.
  • Participants complete the exercises during the session and share their impressions in groups and in pairs. Then, short theoretical presentations on psychological functioning are given and the principles of positive psychology are proposed.
  • Participants can then implement positive psychology methods in their personal and professional life to improve their well-being, and can pass on these tools to their family and colleagues.

A few examples of type of exercises covered are meditation, positive achievements, savouring, character strengths, etc.
