This Kedger has launched Les Sans-Culottes, a marketplace that aims to promote and sell ethical and Made in France brands.

2016 KEDGE graduate Anais Cohen has recently created Les Sans-Culottes (LSC) to change the way people buy clothes and to bring together Made In France brands on a single platform.

Les Sans-Culottes is a marketplace that promotes and sells ethical and Made in France brands. In addition to adhering to an eco-friendly dynamic, the aim is to inject new life into Made in France products by initially selling ready-to-wear clothing, accessories, and shoes that are produced in France.

We chose this name because it was the name used by the French revolutionaries who, representing the People in 1789,  sought to change the societal structure of the time. Similarly, LSC aims to revolutionise the French fashion and clothing market by selling only French products designed and sold by French brands. - Anais Cohen, Managing Director and Founder

The brands carried must comply with an environmental and ethical charter, be made in France, and promote the well-being of their employees.

SUPPORT THE PROJECT

In order to successfully launch her project, Anais needs your help! "We are launching a fundraiser to develop our strategy (recruitment, communication, structuring, and brand acquisition). We need your help to finance the promotion of our marketplace and our partner brands, as well as to begin operations. In a nutshell, this fundraiser will give us the necessary boost to get started and bring our vision to life."

WHO IS ANAIS ?

After finishing high school, Anais attended a post-secondary degree programme at EDHEC. She did two internships, one in fashion and one in digital, which gave her a desire to continue along that path.  After that, Anais got her undergraduate degree, she decided to get even further training and took the competitive exam for entry into one of the Grandes Ecoles, and ultimately ended up at the KEDGE campus in Marseille. Her last internship was a very significant one for her -  she stayed at the company for six years, working as a digital project manager in the luxury sector. Anais had had the idea for Les Sans-Culottes in the back of her mind for a long time, so after the lockdowns were lifted, she decided to go for it.

How did the education you received at KEDGE Business School help you become who you are today, and how did its teachings help you develop your project?

One of the courses that had the biggest impression on me was the crisis management course, which gave us the ability to make decisions quickly, but not hastily. We did simulations in the evenings to put ourselves in disaster situations, which was one of my best experiences at KEDGE.

Studying at KEDGE made me more aware of the ethical and ecological implications of businesses, so I was able to build a culture around those two areas and identify the problems so I could come up with alternatives. At KEDGE, students can do internships abroad. It also provides assistance to entrepreneurs with the Business Nursery. These opportunities bring an environment of creativity and the confidence to create a business. The student association aspect is also very important for students. Through them, we get involved, create projects and events, and put ourselves in the reality of running a business.

What are your development goals for the future?

We have several development goals. Of course,  we want Les Sans-Culottes to grow and we want to increase the number of partner brands so that LSC will become the leading platform in terms of Made in France. In the longer term, we would like to add new categories, such as children’s and beauty products. And in the very long-term, we would like our marketplace to have its own logistics network and to expand the “Made In” aspect to every country.
