Become a mentor to committed young adults

The Institut de l'Engagement was created in the wake of the Service Civique to give young people who’ve demonstrated their potential through a period of engagement (volunteering, unpaid work), the chance to have a future that matches their potential.

Every year, the Institut supports these young people in their studies and job searches, or in creating businesses.

The Institut de l'Engagement won the second call for projects from the government’s "1 Jeune, 1 Mentor” (1 Young Person, 1 Mentor) initiative. As such, it is launching a mentoring programme to provide support to more young people and is looking for volunteer mentors who are willing to work with, and support, these young people.

The programme is suitable for any profile of young adults so all types of mentor profiles are needed!

Mentoring

Since 2012, the Institut de l'Engagement has continued to increase the number of laureates mentored by our team. However, for the hundreds of laureates chosen by the Institut each year, we receive thousands of applications.

To help more young people, and because we are the winners of the government's "1 Young Person, 1 Mentor" scheme, we are launching a mentoring programme.

What's the objective?

To make sure that all engaged young people (via volunteering or unpaid work) can benefit from support that will help them realise their future plans and continue to be engaged.

In this context, the Institut is looking for mentors. We know it can count on a great community of invested and benevolent volunteers. The programme is open to all types of young people and all types of mentors!

Becoming a mentor means:

  • Having a wonderful interpersonal experience by getting to know a young person or a young mentee.
  • Listening, and sharing skills and experiences to help your mentee in their plans.
  • Interacting with your mentee for at least one hour per month for six months.

How does it work?

Before you begin:

  • An initial training session led by the mentoring team is held to explain the structure of the programme, provide advice, and guide you in carrying out this human adventure.

Throughout the mentoring period you will:

  •  Receive support and be provided with educational tools to best meet the needs of the mentee.
  • Be a member of a network of mentors to discuss and encourage sharing.
  • -Have access to a platform specially designed for your mentoring relationship.
